HOW THE AUCTION ENDS

PCA Auctions run a little differently to other ones that you might have used on the web.

The auctions end when the timer reaches zero, but if a bid is placed in the final moments, we extend the countdown by another 60 seconds to allow other bidders the chance to join in. This process keeps going until we have a winner: in other words, the timer reaches zero.

This is changed slightly if there are two or more BidButlers bidding on an auction in the same price range. BidButlers can bid on your behalf if you need to leave your computer at any time: you just set the price range and the number of bids you’re prepared to use.

If there is only one BidButler bidding on an auction, the bids from that BidButler will be placed within the final 10 seconds of the auction – the countdown then resets, as it would for a normal bid, allowing other bidders to bid again.

If there are two or more BidButlers bidding against each other, all the consecutive bids are placed immediately, and the price and countdown increase with each bid placed. We do this so that bidders can easily see the auctions that will end soon unless another bid is placed.

On the auction detail page you’ll be able to monitor the most recent price and countdown change, so you can follow what’s going on.
